UK: Stonehenge
[October 2014]
Time to travel the UK! Today, we traveled to Stonehenge and Bath with a tour that was offered through KCL. It was more independent than I thought - they literally just let us hop off the bus and let us go freely for x amount of hours. I'm guessing that we just paid for transportation...
First stop was Stonehenge, located near Salisbury. It was about a 3 hour coach ride I want to say from central London. This was the second time I traveled outside of the city and I was so amazed at how lush the English countryside was. It's amazing to see how congested and bustling one little area is compared to much of the rest of the country.
Stonehenge is massive - you could see it from the motorway. The stones are absolutely huge and are probably at least 30 feet tall. It makes you imagine how did this really come about? We were all given audio tours which filled in many of the historical gaps. The weather was gloomy - go figure, it's England. One second it was dry, and next it was pouring down. Lesson to be learned, the weather is always finicky here so where as if you're going from season to season!
Next stop was Bath, one of my favorite cities outside of London. Stay tuned for the next post dedicated to Bath!
